Winter weddings can be just as good right? How do i start planning? I dont even know what colors i want yet. HELP

Plannnig fall or even early winter wedding is not as hard as one may think. First the colors, it all depends on if your going to run with the colors of the season or if your going to go with your favorite colors. Nothing is set in stone stating that you’ve got to use seasonal colors. Going to theknot.com and theweddingchannel.com will give you wonderful ideas for the use of colors, themes and other things. You can always check i-wed.com and ask some pros for help as well it never hurts to ask around.
Congrats and good luck

My wedding was on December 7 and I loved it. I wouldn’t change the date for anything. I picked Silver & Red as our colors, they fit with the season and I liked them. Have you bought your dress yet? If not, you should. That will pick the ‘formality’ of the reception. Once you have the colors & the dress picked, things will start falling into place.

    Good Luck & Congrats!

Relax, breath, organize. Right now concentrate on getting the church, reception hall, and music booked. You can find wedding planners at Barnes and Noble and you can keep organized that way. Find out how much you are able to spend on this wedding and start ordering your cake, caterer, start looking at styles for your dress, your bridesmaids dresses. Pick a color for your wedding. I recommend something original but make usre its easy to find. for my sister’s 15anera we had a very beautiful apple green color but it was so difficult to match that we ended up with different greens.

my daughter had a winter wedding and it was gorgeous, she had burgundy for brides maids but i like deep blue velvet for the dresses, and only ‘off white’ for the flowers, because its a wedding and near holiday time, you can be festive [but not ornately holiday] with sparkly silver decorations, one on each table.

I got married in October once…(I know, interesting first sentence, long story) The colors were the traditional black and white but the groomsmen had dark red vests and ties, the bridesmaids had black, strapless, full-length gowns with a white strip of fabric around the chest portion and the groom and I both work white (with the groom wearing a red vest as well). I had my hair up with an alstromaria on the right side of my 40’s style, glamorous do. For flowers, red-orange alstrmarias are to dies for. I mixed them with red roses and orange lillys. It was absolutely beautiful and very memorable. Everyone still talks about it. we did black candles on mirrored plates on the tables with fake red rosepetals strewn about and we had black lanterns hanging from the cieling. I did the entire wedding, including my dress (David’s Bridal) for $3,000. It was incredible. Need more help, email me, I’ll see if I can find pictures.

    Choose a date/Find and book a location
(These 2 things go hand and hand).

Find a minister to marry you
    Decide on attendants and groomsmen
Find dresses / Decide on Tuxedos
    Choose Flowers
    Choose Caterer and plan menu

I got married in December….we incorporated cranberries and garnet color flowers with white/cream colored flowers and they were beautiful! I bought martini glasses and filled the bottom of the glasses with cranberries and then water and topped with a floating candle. They were very elegant on the reception table.

theknot.com is very helpful when planning your wedding they give you everything you need to get started a checklist to help keep you on track. You can post your invitation on there and have people RSVP and also sign a guest book. You can also upload your pic’s from the wedding, engagement, honeymoon for all those who couldn’t make it still see you shine on YOUR day! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! As far as colors are concerned think about winter colors for example: sapphire blue, emerald green really i think any darker colors would look nice for winter weddings. I got married in May and i had a two-tone wedding(Ivory,Lilac and Lavender). My matron-of-honor and maid-of-honor dressed were lilac and lavender and my bridesmaids wore lilac. I hope i was able to give you some good ideas and i planned my entire wedding with the help of theknot.com in less than 5 months.

I am planning my wedding also, it is for september 20,2008, which is also a fall wedding. Think of colors that are rich and earthy, mine are pink and brown, the guys will be wearing brown tuxedos(jim’s formal wear) My gown will be either ivory or champagne. But there are fall/autumn wedding themes on the net, really cute stuff for decorations/favors. Good Luck!

I looked into all those wedding planner books and binders when I first got engaged, but couldn’t find anything that really suited my needs and style, so my fiance suggested I make my own.

We went to Staples and I bought an oversize 3-4 inch binder with a heavy duty plastic cover. We’re talking all plastic – no cardboard in this bad boy! (When picking your binder, and this may just be my personal preference, I looked for one big enough to cover the tabs when the binder was closed. Helps keep things a whole lot neater.) I also picked up page protectors, a box of business card holders, two envelope pockets with flaps, 2 sets of extra wide dividers (5 tabs each – and wider than the page protectors so you can still see the tabs) and a trapper keeper type folder. I also picked up some glue sticks and the really small post it notes in BRIGHT colors. The post it Notes I used as tabs to mark pages in magazines and in the binder, or to make notes on pictures I especially liked and then stuck it right next to the picture.

Then I created a set of tabs for the binder:

Budget & Guest List: Master guest list, respondents, thank you notes, money saving tips, budget, schedules

Ceremony: Invitations, ceremony ideas, church information, programs, readings, Pre-Cana

    Reception: Location, food, cake, music/DJ

Decorations: Flowers, centerpieces, favors, guestbook, memorial ideas, church decorations

Clothing: Groom and bridal party, parents

Bride: Gown, shoes, hair, makeup, accessories

Photo /Video: Vendors, must have pictures, video camera availability

Registry: Wish list, registry lists, ideas

    Honeymoon

Miscellaneous: Shower ideas, attendant gift ideas

You can change to suit your needs, but this is what worked best for me.

Instead of a towering stack of bridal magazines, I went through each one, tore out every single thing I liked, filed it accordingly and passed the magazines on to our moms to see if there was anything in there they liked. For the smaller pictures, I cut them to size and glued them on sheets of paper in bunches as necessary. Make sure you write down the designer or source of the pictures – you will NOT remember this. I just jotted notes right on the paper. Those sheets, and the full page pictures went right in the page protectors.

I also kept track of pictures of stuff I saw online. If I saw something I liked, I saved the photo with a descriptive file name (square swiss dot cake) in a folder on my hard drive. Then again, I opened a word document, got as many pictures on a page as I could and printed the pages out on a color printer. So everything I liked was right in front of me, and if I wanted to show someone cakes, I flipped to the section and I had four pages of cake pictures to look at.

I know it sounds like A LOT of work, but it really was worth it. Those magazines are a pain, and you can waste a lot of time flipping through them to find what you want. This way, everything is in one place, you can take it with you, and when you start clustering pictures together, you really discover your own sense of style. (Plus knowing what you like and being able to produce a picture of it makes you a heck of a lot easier for a coordinator to work with!)

I also have a slightly smaller binder to work with when I am visiting a vendor. For instance, when we went to see reception sites, I pulled out the sections with the reception information and the decorations to take with me. I had everything the facility sent me, with my questions written right on the materials, plus pictures of the kinds of set ups I was looking at doing. Anal retentive? Maybe. But at least they know they’re not dealing with a wishy washy bride!

PS – Most magazines pay for themselves when you clip the coupons. I’ve used coupons from Bed Bath and Beyond and Michaels from my bridal magazines.

I have a ton of wedding planning files and spreadsheets if you are interested in them. email me at silverstar41704 at aol dot com.

My sister got married in November, and it was beautiful. Her colors were brown and tan with pink accents, which we were unsure of at first, but it ended up being really pretty. I would start by finding sites for your ceremony and reception. Once you narrow down the date and location, everything else is a lot easier to coordinate. Good luck and have fun!!
